Hurdles

Since last I wrote, some things happened that might be relevant:
I'm actually in the UK, and to be specific: Walton, Liverpool.

I'm not used to flying such short distances, or staying within Europe. I expected to have something to write about the trip here, but as it turns out the whole thing was very smooth and uneventful. So without further ado, here's what I did (hint, also your guide on how to get here!):
I hopped on the train to Copenhagen Airport, flew to Manchester (~2 hours), picked up my luggage and went to the trains, got on the one to Liverpool Lime Street and about 1.5 hours later I was at Lime Street station where I met up with Nick, my new flatmate and we could grab a taxi to Walton.

The place I'm living is very tight, but so is everything around here, that's a view of the street I live on, but they all look like that, so not very special by local standards but centainly something that stands out when you grew up on a farm. I thought these places only existed in Monty Python with people dancing on the roofs, singing about how they all dislike contraception. But no, that is apparently how much of Britain's suburbia looks.

So far so good: Moving and getting into the country; no problem. No the hurdles have more to do with bureaucracy around everything else here: National Insurance number, Bank account, phone contract. Well my next step is to get a "Confirmation of Address" so I can get started with the rest of the paperwork. I'll let you know once I actually start making progress and things happen.

Work? Hopefully starting soon. Apparently one can't start working without a contract and Netto has yet to fix mine, so, waiting :D
